In the heart of Southern Ohio, a powerful movement is taking shape—a movement that transcends boundaries and celebrates the rich tapestry of diversity through the universal language of art. The Southern Ohio Minority Artist Alliance (SOMAA) stands as a beacon, providing a platform for underrepresented artists to flourish, connect, and contribute to the vibrant cultural landscape of the region.

Kimberly "DuWaup" Bolden, the visionary founder of SOMAA, embarked on a mission to transform Southern Ohio by establishing an organization dedicated to bridging gaps and nurturing understanding among diverse communities. With a profound belief in the power of art as a catalyst for change, DuWaup established SOMAA with the aim of breaking down barriers, challenging stereotypes, and cultivating a more inclusive and interconnected society.

Through various artistic expressions, SOMAA endeavors to create a platform where people from different backgrounds can come together, share their stories, and celebrate their unique identities. DuWaup's leadership has infused SOMAA with a passion for promoting unity, fostering dialogue, and ultimately building a more harmonious and empathetic community in Southern Ohio.

One of SOMAA's primary objectives is to empower minority artists by offering them a supportive space to showcase their talents. Through exhibitions, workshops, and networking events, SOMAA provides invaluable opportunities for artists to gain recognition, build relationships, and further their careers.

Diversity is a wellspring of creativity, and SOMAA recognizes the importance of celebrating cultural heritage. The alliance actively promotes the exploration of different artistic traditions, encouraging artists to draw inspiration from their roots and infuse their work with a sense of identity and pride.

SOMAA is committed to nurturing the next generation of minority artists. Educational initiatives, such as mentorship programs and art scholarships, provide aspiring artists with the tools and guidance they need to pursue their passions and contribute to the ever-evolving world of art.

Beyond the canvas, SOMAA actively engages with the local community. Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and other non-profit organizations, SOMAA strives to make art accessible to everyone, fostering a love for creativity and self-expression.

SOMAA is not just an organization it's a movement, a force for positive change that transcends the boundaries of race, ethnicity, and background. Through our unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion, SOMAA is not only transforming the local art scene but also contributing to the broader societal shift towards a more interconnected and understanding world.
