CINCINNATI YOUTH POETRY SLAM
Cincinnati Youth Poetry Slam is a free community-focused program that provides a platform for young people to express themselves creatively. Our events are open to all teens between the ages of 13-19, and we welcome youth of all writing skill levels.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to foster a love of poetry and to empower young people to use their voices to effect positive change in their communities.
CYPS Rules and Program Eligibility:

Age and Enrollment: Participants must be between 14-19 years old and enrolled in junior high, high school, or a GED program (or have completed it within the CYPS academic year).

Individual Participation: While participants may belong to poetry groups or clubs, they will compete individually in the poetry slam competition.

School Representation: A maximum of 12 participants can represent each school or organization. These participants are chosen by their coach.

Parental Consent: A signed waiver and release of liability form signed by a parent or guardian is required for participation.

Adult Advisor: Each participant must have the guidance of an adult advisor from their school or organization.

Diversity and Inclusion: CYPS embraces diversity and promotes a safe environment. Racist, sexist, homophobic language, hate speech, and disrespectful behavior are strictly prohibited. Instances of sex discrimination, gender-based harassment, or stalking must be reported to the coach and/or a CYPS organizer, and law enforcement should be notified if necessary.
